Personally, as my poor friend must have experienced, I grew up with this show and will always adore it. The cuts, colours, leopard print, the big fluffy orange jacket, colour blocks à la Kantrantzou. The outfits Fran Drescher as Nanny Fine wears are very 90’s yet, at the same time, I swear I see a lot of these reflected in the fashion in the past years and current years. I thoroughly believe that The Nanny is one of the most fashion forward series in the past 20 years, if not even the most fashion forward one ( and yes I do acknowledge Sex and the City) however, this is something very different. Even after I wholeheartedly blasted out the jingle to the series. To keep it short – my friend had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. I recently had a rather tipsy late evening conversation with a friend, and for some reason unknown to me I referred to The Nanny.
